Officially opened in 1984 by then-Prime Minister Bob Hawke, the CHOICE building houses both our office and our NATA-accredited testing facilities.
We are working towards a greener office

CHOICE has been lab testing appliances and their energy consumption for decades, helping people buy more energy-efficient products that reduce power use.
In 2014 we began the journey towards an energy-efficient building in our Marrickville HQ - part of an broader goal to become an environmentally sustainable organisation.
What began with a small in-house team, has grown to become part of our latest three-year strategy. We now have an energy auditing framework, many more solar panels on our roofspace, an improved recycling program, and an ongoing carbon offset program.
Since 2016 we've also been proudly carbon neutral.
And as a nonprofit, member-funded organisation, the money we save in a more energy efficient space goes back into our work helping all Australian consumers.
Our world-class testing facilities

At our NATA-accredited labs in Marrickville, we perform hundreds of product tests and reviews for our website and magazine each year.
Expert testing of whitegoods, babies and kids products, vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances, TVs and many more categories is a big part of the unique work we do every day.
For private companies looking for product development and compliance testing, CHOICE offers fast, confidential and cost-effective testing.
Our building mural

In 2021, we were thrilled to have local artist David Cragg showcase his public wall mural, "Waterways", on the CHOICE building. It depicts the variety of birdlife and vegetation growing along our local waterways.
Find out how the mural came about, as part of a public art initiative on our social impact page.
